Why do LED tubes come with milky, clear, or striped covers? What is the difference?

Milky cover: diffuses light, reduces glare, suitable for homes and offices

Clear cover: maximizes light output, ideal for garages and warehouses

Striped cover: balances brightness with glare reduction, common in schools, supermarkets, and public spaces

What does Power Factor (PF) mean, and why does it matter?

Power Factor reflects how efficiently power is used. High-quality LED tubes typically have PF ≥0.9, minimizing energy waste and reducing harmonic interference on the grid. Low PF can increase electricity losses, especially in large commercial installations.

Why is CRI (Color Rendering Index) important for LED tubes?

CRI indicates how accurately colors appear under the light. A CRI above 80 is suitable for homes and offices. CRI above 90 is recommended for retail stores, galleries, or any place where color accuracy is critical. Low CRI may cause washed-out or distorted colors.

Can LED tubes be used in enclosed fixtures?

Yes, but proper ventilation is crucial. Enclosed fixtures may trap heat, which can shorten the LED’s lifespan. For enclosed installations, tubes with aluminum housings or tri-proof fixtures designed for heat dissipation are recommended.

Can LED tubes be installed vertically or only horizontally?

LED tubes can be installed in any orientation (horizontal, vertical, or angled). However, for environments with high humidity, vertical mounting may increase the risk of condensation at the tube ends, so proper sealing or tri-proof fixtures are recommended.
